Color Verifier - Why does it not read the EFI strip?

I have had the EFI Color Verifier for quite while now, but only recently started playing around with it. In fact the reason I never used it in the first place is because when I tried it, I could not get it to read the EFI Control Bar. It gives me an error everytime. It is like it is expecting a different number of patches that the EFI bar has. This is perplexing to me since it is an EFI product in the 1st place???

Recently however I have started to work with it some more. I found and downloaded the ugra/fogra mediawedge 2.0a and placed that on a few sample documents. With this strip on the output I am able to measure and compare to see if it stays within my Delta-E setting.

I very pleased with this, however I would still like to know why the EFI one doesn't work, since part of my job is to demo and train on this stuff.

I did a search for them on Google and found the website for Summit Media, that was where I download the FOGRA patch. Here is the link.

http://www.summitmedia.com.ph/production/

You will find downloads on the right and one of them is the "FOGRA27 Lv2.0a Color Patch". That one seems to work.

Hello,
Also, for a control strip you might like to check out the Idealliance Web Site where they have posted their own bar: IDEAlliance ISO 12647-7 2007 Color Control Strip.

http://www.idealliance.org/

They also provide profiles and characterization data to accompany this.
