Making a Greyscale workflow - stopping the colour?
Our goal is to output proofs that only use black ink.
We receive PDFs that contain greyscale pictures and 100% black text. We have made a queue and disabled Colour Management; further I have activated 'Use Solid Black' and reduced this to 0%. The output is still using the colour cartridges. Does anyone know a workaround? Best regards |

Hi bazil.
There is a undocumented feature for that issue. Please shut down the server and then please add the following line of code to a workflow ticket <Workflow> <ForceGray type="int">1</ForceGray> </Workflow> Save the workflow ticket and then restart the server. All files coming into that workflow, beeing an EPS, PS oder PDF, are now handled as GrayLevel files and only printed with black inks. Hope this will help. Regards Holger |

Dear HolgerD:
I'm still confused about where to add these lines, and II'm not sure what is a "workflow ticket". So could you kindly explain the whole process more clearly again? Really need your help. Best wishes, Henri Chen |

Workflow ticket edit
ArtPanda,
Procedure for workflow ticket editing: 1. Stop XF server. 2. For example: Path to: Drive:\Program Files\EFI\EFI Colorproof XF\Server\Tickets\WRK_0000.xml 3. Search to "name" for name of workflow. Please note: WRK_0000.xml=Linearization workflow WRK_0001.xml=Default workflow 4. WRK_0002.xml=First workflow (so you need to search to "name" so you know you are editing the correct workflow ticket). 5. You need to edit each workflow that you want grayscale. 6. Start the XF server. 7. I would do a backup of your XF server: File Backup Regards, RG
